Bolen headed to Indoor Nationals

Bolen headed to Indoor Nationals

Bolen, Truss named All-Great Lakes Region

INDIANAPOLIS – Senior Marissa Bolen is headed to the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the participants today (March 7, 2016).

The championships will be Friday and Saturday at the Charles Benson Bear Rec & Athletic Center in Grinnell, IA. The shot put will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

"It's very difficult to make the National Meet in Track and Field," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "It's a great accomplishment for Marissa to be in the top 17 in the shot put and make the National cut. She got the experience Outdoor Nationals last season, so I think she can take that experience and use it to help her."

Bolen (Gibsonburg, OH/Gibsonburg) achieved the qualifying mark in the Tiffin Alumni Meet in December, throwing 13.45 meters. It will be her second time Bolen has qualified for National competition, the first time for indoors.  She is one of three Ohio Athletic Conference athletes to qualify in the event.

Additionally, she learned later Monday that the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named her to the All-Great Lakes region team. Senior Antone Truss (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs) also earned All-Great Lakes region honors.
