@DubC_XCTR competes in All-Ohio

WESTERVILLE – Members of the Wilmington College track and field team competed in the All-Ohio championships Saturday at Otterbein University. The men's team placed 14th of 17 teams, while the women's was 16th of 17 teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Senior Marissa Bolen (Gibsonburg, OH/Gibsonburg) was the lone women's athlete to qualify for the meet. She finished sixth in the shot put with a toss of 12.88 meters.
  • Sophomore Kalvin Butts (St. John's, MI/St. John's) was the highest placing athlete, placing fourth in the weight throw with a personal-best effort of 15.99 meters.
  • Sophomore Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) earned the rest of Wilmington's points. He was sixth in the triple jump (12.68 meters) and eighth in the 60 hurdles (8.71 seconds).

  • "It was an up and down day for us," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "The focus now is getting everyone that can score at the OAC meet, hitting on all cylinders in the next two weeks."

  • The track teams will travel up to Bexley to compete in the Capital Invitational Noon Saturday.
