WESTERVILLE - The Wilmington College women's track and field team finished seventh of 11 teams at the Otterbein Track and Field Invitational Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Most of Wilmington's points came from the field events.
- Freshman Cierra Johnson (Cincinnati, OH/Fairfield) tallied the lone event victory, winning the triple jump (10.09 meters). She added a third place finish in the long jump (5.06 meters).
- Senior Marissa Bolen (Gibsonburg, OH/Gibsonburg) was second in the shot put (12.96 meters) and fourth in the weight throw (13.49 meters).
- Junior Angela Dorsett (Pittsburgh, PA/West Mifflin) was third in the triple jump (9.86 meters).
- Junior Stephanie Fetters (West Milton, OH/Milton-Union) was the lone non-field athlete to score for Wilmington, placing fifth in the 1000 (3:52.02).
QUOTES
- "The good part about our meet at Otterbein is that we got a meet under our belt," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "The tough part of that meet is that it shows we have a really long way to go as a team. Now the challenge is to see how many of our athletes want to buckle down and put in the effort and the work each day to improve."
- "Marissa is always consistently strong at every meet we go to and this meet was no exception," said Combs. I think by the end of the season she can be pushing to be an All-American.
WHAT'S NEXT
Wilmington will participate in the Ohio Athletic Conference South Meet on January 23, 2016 at the Capital Center on the campus of Capital University.
