Roberts Garners All-OAC Honors in 100-Yard Breaststroke on Day Two of OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio – Wilmington College women's swimming freshman Fynn Roberts garnered All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) honors in the 100-yard breaststroke in day two of the 2020 OAC Championships on Friday.
 
Roberts swam a lifetime best mark of 1:08.19 in the event to finish runner-up to Shelbi Shearer of John Carroll University by just over two-tenths of a second. Two other Quakers – Rebecca Curran and Kassidy Rogers – placed sixth (1:15.27) and seventh (1:16.17) in the consolation final respectively.
 
Macki Leon was the other Fightin' Quaker to place in the championship finals of an event on Friday with her eighth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.40. Margaret Hover also competed in the event, taking third in the consolation finals with a time of 2:01.02.
 
The consolation finals of the 100-yard backstroke featured four Wilmington individuals – Ashley Carlson (1:03.89), Anna Endsley (1:06.49), Kadie Grundy (1:06.71) and Laura Swinehart (1:11.33). The four Quakers took second, fifth, sixth and eighth respectively.  Others to place in consolation finals of events included Alyssa Harper's time of 5:20.78 in the 400-yard IM and Hannah Davis's mark of 1:04.47 in the 100-yard butterfly.
 
Wilmington's two relay squads finished in fifth place on the evening. Olivia Bender, Harper, Endsley and Carlson swam a time of 8:47.75 in the 800-yard freestyle relay while Leon, Roberts, Davis and Hover touched the pad in 1:53.07 in the 200-yard medley relay.
 
After two days of competition, the Quakers stand in fifth place with 203 total points. Defending champions John Carroll University lead the way with 658.5 points with the University of Mount Union in second with 389 points. Baldwin Wallace University (376.5 points) and Ohio Northern University (291 points) round out the standings.
 
The final day of the championships begins with preliminaries at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
