Women's Swimming to Compete in Double Dual Meet Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's swimming team heads to Springfield, Ohio, and Wittenberg University for a double dual meet with host Wittenberg and Transylvania University on Saturday. The first event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

The Coach: Trip Breen is in his 20th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's swimming teams. Breen has been named Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Men's Coach of the Year four times, the most recently in the 2016-17 season.

Who to Watch: Macki Leon was a winner of three individual events in the Fightin' Quakers' last dual meet, with Ohio Northern University on Oct.25, claiming first-place honors in the 100-meter backstroke (1:11.46), the 200-meter freestyle (2:17.14) with a lifetime best mark and the 200-meter IM (2:35.72). Margaret Hover won two individual events including a thrilling 800-meter freestyle (10:27.29) by defeating ONU's Karli Katterle by less than two seconds. She also won the 400-meter freestyle, touching the pad in 5:06.74. Her teammates, freshman Alyssa Harper took second in the event with a mark of 5:18.61. Hover and Leon teamed up with Anna Endsley and Hannah Davis to win the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 1:57.77.
