Macki Leon Breaks Her Own 200-IM Record for Women's Swimming at OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio – Wilmington College women's swimming junior Macki Leon broke her own record in the 200-yard IM on day one of the 2020 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday evening.

Leon, who set the old record at the 2019 OAC Championships, swam a time of 2:14.74 to finish in fifth place. She was less than a second from third place and All-OAC recognition in the event. Fynn Roberts and Kassidy Rogers also competed in the consolation final of the 200-yard IM, finishing in 2:23.52 and 2:033.05 respectively. 
 
Margaret Hover, Olivia Bender and Alyssa Harper all qualified for the consolation final thanks to top 16 finishes in the morning prelims. Hover finished third in with a time of 5:24.87 while Bender and Harper finished with two seconds of each other in seventh (5:42.32) and eighth (5:44.32) respectively. 
 
The 200-yard freestyle relay squad of Hover, Anna Endsley, Davis and Leon finished the race in 1:48.31 in fifth in the morning, and the same group improved upon that time by over six seconds in the evening to finish in fifth place again. The 400-yard medley relay team of Leon, Roberts, Davis and Hover set a new school record with a third-place finishing time of 4:08.65.
 
As a team, the Quakers sit in fifth place with 87 points after day one. Defending champions John Carroll University as 261.5 points while the University of Mount Union (163 points) and Baldwin Wallace University (162.5 points) are separated by just half of a point. Ohio Northern University is in fourth with 91 points.

Day two of competition begins with morning prelims at 10 a.m. on Friday.
