WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's swimming team hosted John Carroll University for the final home meet of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Streaks came out victories, defeating the Fightin' Quakers 171-87.

"Today was our last dual meet of the season and another great opportunity to compete prior to the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships next month," Head Women's Swimming Coach Trip Breen said. "The tough workouts are just about over, and we are just about ready to begin our taper. Athletically we wanted to focus on fine tuning few things and have one more opportunity to race."

Macki Leon won two individual events for the Fightin' Quakers, turning in times of 2:16.70 in the 200-meter freestyle and 1:13.51 in the 100-meter IM to win both events. The junior also finished second in the 100-meter backstroke (1:12.19). Fellow junior Margaret Hover also tallied three top-three finishes, claiming runner-up honors in both the 50-meter freestyle (29.45 seconds) and 400-meter freestyle (5:09.62). She also finished third in the 800-meter freestyle (10:35.29). Fynn Roberts recorded a trio of second-place finishes, touching the pad in 37.29 seconds in the 50-meter breaststoke, 1:21.05 in the 100-meter breaststroke and 1:16.90 in the 100-meter IM.

Hannah Davis earned a second-place finish in the 50-meter butterfly (34.20 seconds) and took third in the 100-meter freestyle (1:05.69). Senior Rebecca Curran placed third in both the 50-meter breaststroke (38.65 seconds) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:26.74). Additionally, Alyssa Harper's time of 36.14 seconds in the 50-meter butterfly placed her third.

Wilmington's 200-meter freestyle relay squad of Hover, Anna Endsley, Davis and Leon finished runner-up with a time of 1:59.34.

"We also wanted to celebrate our senior class and show appreciation for their hard work, loyalty, friendship and commitment to Wilmington College and our swimming program this afternoon," Breen said. "Many thanks to Rebecca Curran, Samantha Harter and Laura Swinehart!"

Wilmington will have a couple weeks off before returning to the pool for the OAC Championships, held at Akron University's Ocasek Natatorium from Feb. 13-15.
