Men's Track & Field to Compete at OAC Outdoor Championships This Weekend

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's track & field team travels to Otterbein University for the 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday. Events are scheduled to begin at noon on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The Teams: All 10 OAC institutions will complete in the meet – Baldwin Wallace University, Capital University, Heidelberg University, John Carroll University, Marietta College, The University of Mount Union, Muskingum University, Ohio Northern University, Otterbein University and Wilmington College.

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 19th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.

Who to Watch – Track Events: Wilmington will bring eight individuals to compete in the track events including several that will be running in multiple events. In sprints, Adam Knaub will run in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes while Elliot Phillimore is slated to compete in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. Aaron Koch will represent the Fightin' Quakers in both the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles while Taton Bertsch and Josh Cyrus are scheduled to run in the 800-meter run. In distance events, Evan Whitaker will be joined by George Rickett in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Whitaker will also run compete in the 5,000-meter run while Gage Clemens will be the lone Quaker in the 10,000-meter run.

Who to Watch – Field Events: Colin Myers will compete in all three jumping events while Luke Richardson will join him in both the long jump and triple jump. Joe Shuga is slated to represent Wilmington in all three throwing events while Andrew Pacifico and Josh Miller will join him in the hammer throw.
