Men's Track & Field Heads to Wittenberg

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's track & field team heads to Wittenberg University on Friday for the Fightin' Quakers' final tune-up before the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Outdoor Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 19th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.

Who to Watch: Elliot Phillimore, who was part of Wilmington's 4-x-400-meter relay team that took third place at the Outdoor All-Ohio Meet last weekend, is scheduled to compete in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash. The senior from Old Fort, Ohio, has the team's best time in the later event with a time of 51.09 seconds set at the Tiffleberg Meet early in the month.
