Men's Track & Field To Compete at OAC Indoor Championships This Weekend

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's track and field team travels to Ohio Northern University (ONU) for the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend.

The Meet: On Friday, field events will begin at noon while track events are slated to start at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, field events begin at 10 a.m. while track events start competition at 2 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington will be joined by host Ohio Northern along with the other eight OAC institutions – Baldwin Wallace University, Capital University, Heidelberg University, John Carroll University, Marietta College, the University of Mount Union, Muskingum University and Otterbein University.

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 19th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.

Who to Watch – Track Events: Evan Whitaker will compete in the 3,000-meter (9:04.21) and 5,000-meter (15:50.11) runs while Taton Bertsch will represent the Fightin' Quakers in middle distance in the 800-meter run (2:01.94). In sprints, Adam Knaub is qualified in the 60-meter dash (7.26 seconds) while Aaron Koch is slated to compete in the 60-meter hurdles (9.11 seconds).

Who to Watch – Field Events: Joe Shuga is qualified in both the shot put (42' 8 ¾") and the weight throw (46' 8 ¼") while Andrew Pacifico will compete in the weight throw (43' 4 ¼"). Additionally, Luke Richardson, at last weekend's Rick Meindl Last Call, posted a mark of 20' 7 ¼" in the long jump.
