Men's Track & Field Heads to Heidelberg on Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's track & field team will compete at the Heidelberg Invitational hosted by Heidelberg University on Saturday. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

The Teams: Wilmington will be joined host Heidelberg along with other Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) member Marietta College. Adrian College, Wittenberg University represent the other NCAA Division III schools in attendance. The University of Findlay, Northern Michigan University, Lake Erie College, Ohio Dominican University, Tiffin University and Cedarville University will also be in attendance.

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 19th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.

Who to Watch – Track Events: Adam Knaub has Wilmington's top times in both the 100-meter dash (11.07 seconds) and 200-meter dash (22.62 seconds) having established both at the Pioneer Invitational two weekends ago. In that same event, Aaron Koch turned in times of 16.65 seconds and 59.42 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles respectively. Evan Whitaker won the 5,000-meter run in Lexington with a time of a15:33.10 that came seconds from breaking the stadium record.

Who to Watch – Field Events: Joe Shuga has the Fightin' Quakers' top marks in the shot put (44' 1 1/4"), discus (135' 3") and hammer throw (137' 2") while Luke Richardson and Colin Myers are slated to jump this weekend.
