Men's Basketball Falls to Ohio Northern in Ada Wednesday Night

(ADA, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team was on the road for the final time Wednesday night at Ohio Northern University in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action. They dropped the game to the Polar Bears, 71-55 after struggling in the first half and not being able to recover. They outscored Ohio Northern 35-29 in the second half, but it wasn't enough. Matthew Dugue and Rashid Chishom tied for the team-lead with eight points in the game as the Quakers fall to 9-15 overall and 5-12 in the OAC.

The Quakers had a tough time out of the gate Wednesday night, falling behind 14-0 in the first five minutes of the contest. They struggled throughout the first half, shooting 33.3% from the field compared to Ohio Northern's 58.1% and went into the locker room down 42-20.

Despite losing the contest, the Quakers ended the game on a positive note. After trailing 66-35 with 4:28 remaining, they finished the game on a 20-5 run. Nick Malagreca Jr. led the charge with six points, while TJ Motil had five for Wilmington. The Quakers outshot the Polar Bears 36.4% to 33.3% in the second half.

The Quakers conclude their 2023-24 season on Saturday afternoon at home for Senior Day against Heidelberg University at 2:00 P.M.

They will look to split the season series with the Student Princes after dropping their contest in Tiffin, Ohio back on January 6th.
