(BEXLEY, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team fell on the road Wednesday night to the Capital University Comets, 70-65. The Quakers battled back, outscoring the Comets by five in the second half, but couldn't complete the comeback in the loss. They drop to 8-10 overall this season and 4-7 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).
Both teams fought to a 9-9 tie through the first seven minutes of action. A 16-5 run followed for Capital to give them an 11 point, 25-14 lead over Wilmington with 7:22 to play in the half. The Quakers cut into the lead over the next five minutes with a 13-8 rally to push the score to 33-27. Obed Achirem led the Quakers with four points during this stretch of play. The Comets would extend the lead back to 10 over the final minutes of the half and take a 39-29 lead into the locker room.
The Quakers began to chip away at the Comets lead over the first 10 minutes of action in the second half and eventually tied the game at 46-46. Travis Mitchell fueled the run for Wilmington with six points. The Quakers would keep fighting and take their first lead of the second half, a 52-48 advantage with 8:37 to play in the game. However, a 14-2 run ensued for the Comets to give them a 62-54 lead with under five minutes left. The Quakers fought till the very end and cut the lead down to three at 67-64 with 1:18 remaining, but it wouldn't be enough in their 70-65 defeat.

- Rashid Chisholm grabbed a game-high eight rebounds while Carson Miles tied for the game-high by dishing out three assists.
