WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team hits the road for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) series at John Carroll University on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and John Carroll. The Fightin' Quakers are 6-13 on the season after a 3-1 home stand record last weekend. Wilmington recently fell at Wittenberg University 16-8 in an offensive game on Wednesday. The Blue Streaks are 13-5 on the season having most recently lost 10-1 at Denison University on Wednesday.

The Coaches: The 2019 season marks the new era for Wilmington College baseball team as the head coach Tony Vittorio starts his first season in charge of the program. He most recently served as the head coach at the University of Dayton for 18 seasons. Ryan Nordquist is in his third season on the JCU staff including his first as the Blue Streaks' interim head coach

The Hitters: A quartet of Quakers – Gage Bley, Luke Kleindl, Jake Hyatt and Nick Silvis – have driven in at least 10 runs including Bley's team-best 15 to go along with eight doubles. Kleindl has also driven in 15 runs and leads Wilmington with three home runs, one of which came at Wittenberg on Wednesday. Antonio Miller averages nearly a stolen base per game. Dominic Mittiga has 25 RBIs and five home runs to go along with a .395 batting average for JCU. 

The Pitchers: Matt Oney has been Wilmington's most effective pitcher as the junior has a 3.18 ERA in 11.1 innings pitched. Lance Fleischman, once named the OAC Pitcher of the Week, pitched a complete-game including 10 strikeouts in the Quakers' 3-2 win over Muskingum on Saturday. Andrew Steele, Mitchell Medea and Nathaniel Wenson have all pitched over 20 innings for JCU and have ERAs under 4.00.
