WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team travels to Wittenberg University for a non-conference game on Wednesday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Wittenberg. The Fightin' Quakers are 6-12 on the season after completing a 3-1 home stand including a sweep of Muskingum University to open Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play. The Tigers stand at 7-6 overall after a sweep of Bluffton University this weekend.

The Coaches: The 2019 season marks the new era for Wilmington College baseball team as the head coach Tony Vittorio starts his first season in charge of the program. He most recently served as the head coach at the University of Dayton for 18 seasons. Brian McGee is in his third season as Wittenberg's head coach.

The Hitters: A trio of Quakers – Gage Bley, Luke Kleindl and Jake Hyatt – all have over a .300 batting average along with driving in at least a dozen runs. Bley and Hyatt have combined for 15 doubles while Kleindl has hit two home runs. Antonio Miller leads the team in walks drawn (10) and stolen bases (16). The Tigers also have a trio – Patrick Kenny, Jack Siefert and Jack Hollinshead – that have driven in double-digit runs. Gage Carpenter and Matt Baker have both swiped six stolen bases.

The Pitchers: Matt Oney has been Wilmington's most effective pitcher as the junior has a 2.89 ERA in 10 innings pitched. Lance Fleischman, once named the OAC Pitcher of the Week, pitched a complete-game including 10 strikeouts in the Quakers' 3-2 win over Muskingum on Saturday. Brandon Beegle has been the ace of the Wittenberg pitching staff thus far this season as the senior has a 3.68 ERA as well as averaging over 11 strikeouts per nine innings.

Series History: Wilmington is 5-8 against Wittenberg since the 2007 season. The Tigers have won the last six meetings.  More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the links above.
