WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team hosts a pair of doubleheaders at Tewksbury-Delaney Field this weekend – Muskingum University in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opener for both teams and a non-conference bout with Hanover College. Both series are slated to begin at 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington, Muskingum and Hanover. The Fightin' Quakers are 3-11 on the season after splitting a doubleheader at Franklin College on Sunday. The Fighting Muskies are 4-9 on the season and play at Washington & Jefferson College on Wednesday while the Panthers are 6-5 overall and host the University of the South (Sewanee) on Wednesday.

The Coaches: The 2019 season marks the new era for Wilmington College baseball team as the head coach Tony Vittorio starts his first season in charge of the program. He most recently served as the head coach at the University of Dayton for 18 seasons. Gregg Thompson is in his 24th season at Muskingum while Grant Bellak is in his first season as head coach at Hanover.

The Hitters: Nick Silvis leads the Wilmington offense with a .358 batting average including a triple. Gage Bley joins Silvis with 19 hits along with a team-high 11 RBIs. Luke Kleindl and Jake Hyatt both have double digits in RBIs while Antonio Miller has tabbed a team-high 13 stolen bases including seven in the doubleheader at Franklin on Sunday. Brett Carson leads Muskingum in batting average (.383), doubles (6), RBIs (14) and walks (10). Michael Pagano and Marc Ibarra are also double digits in RBIs for the Muskies. Spencer Coop leads Hanover hitting a .431 clip with 22 hits, seven doubles and a dozen RBIs. Josh Meszaros and Grant Larimore both have at least 10 RBIs.

The Pitchers: Matt Oney has been Wilmington's most effective pitcher as the junior has a 2.89 ERA in 9.1 innings pitched. Jared Ferenchak, Thomas Hueber and Cameron Harbert have all been effective for the Quakers at times as all three have under a 7.00 ERA. A trio of Muskies – Craig Nixon, Jake Norris and Evan Hinds – all have started there games and have ERAs under 5.00 while David Hermann and Zach Chapman have two stats and ERAs under 1.50 for Hanover.
