The Hustlin' Quakers also defeated the Fightin' Quakers in a single game on Friday, giving Earlham a point in the Quaker Bowl Rivalry season series.

 

In game one, Earlham got a run in the first and extended its lead to 4-0 on a bases-clearing triple in the third. Wilmington scored its lone run in the top of the fourth on an RBI-double from Luke Kleindl. The visitors could not solve starter Walter Talcott, however, as he allowed one run in eight innings with 16 strikeouts to earn the win.

 

Lance Fleischman, the reigning OAC Pitcher of the Week, took the loss allowing eight runs on seven hits in five innings pitched. Matt Oney allowed one run on three hits in relief.

 

Perkins finished 3-for-4 while Kleindl added a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI while rest of Wilmington's lineup had one hit. Earlham tallied 10 team hits including two from both Isaiah Shake and Brian Pincura.

 

In game two, Jared Ferenchak, Wilmington's starter, allowed three runs in the first inning, though two were on double steals. A Kleindl home run in the top of the second cut the visitor's deficit to 3-1, but Wilmington's next four relief pitchers couldn't keep runners from crossing the plate. Wilmington batted around and scored three runs in the sixth to get within 9-5, but a five-run eighth inning from Earlham put the game away.

 

Jordan Christian was the game's winner allowing four runs in six innings pitched.

 

Wilmington tallied 12 hits as a team with Kleindl's home run being the lone extra-base hit. Aaron Burns finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and walk drawn while Perkins and Gage Bley recorded multi-hit games.

 

Earlham finished with 19 hits including five extra-base hits. The hosts also stole a dozen bases.
