Women's Track & Field Earns Third Place at the MSJ Invite

(CINCINNATI, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's track & field team returned to action Saturday afternoon at the MSJ Invite hosted by Mount St. Joseph University. The Quakers finished third in the meet with a team score of 88.

The top scorer for Wilmington was sophomore Faith Duncan with 20 points, who smashed two school records in her first meet as a Quaker. She was the top collegiate finisher in the Mile with a time of 5:08.05, with the previous school record being 5:17.54. She won the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 10:23.49, beating the school record of 10:35.74.

Duncan was also the anchor leg of the Quakers winning Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team as Duncan, Meghan Cory, Haley Cook, and Hayden Setty finished with a time of 13:02.63 to score 10 points.  

The second highest scorer for the Quakers was Lucy Trout with 10 points, who won the weight throw with a mark of 14.11 meters on her second to last throw. This mark is a career best for Trout. She also competed in the shot put, where she finished 10th at 8.29 meters.

Kaitlyn Hickey scored eight points for Wilmington, as she finished third in the shot put with a toss of 11.46 meters and fifth in the weight throw at 12.33 meters. These are both career best marks for Hickey.

Hayden Setty and Camaya Calloway both scored six points for Wilmington. Setty's lone individual event was a third-place finish in the 800 Meter Run, where she ran a 2:38.68. Setty also competed on the 4x400 Relay and DMR team for the Quakers. The team of Meghan Cory, Kendal Staley, Setty, and Chloe Sutton scored eight points in the 4x400 after a time of 4:51.13 got them second place.

Calloway took third for six points in the weight throw with a mark of 13.38 meters while just missing out on scoring in the shot put, finishing seventh at 9.76 meters.

Kendal Staley finished fourth for the Quakers in the 800 Meter Run at 2:50.80 for four points.

Kylee Schafer scored three points for Wilmington with a fifth-place finish (8.33 seconds) in the 60 Meter Dash and a sixth-place finish in the 200 Meter Dash (28.43 seconds). She was also a part of the 4x200 Meter Relay team along with Sutton, Rachel Spanfellner, and Jaineen Smith that finished second at 1:55.20

Haley Cook and Kaitlyn Rauch both finished with two points. Cook scored two with a fifth-place finish in the 200 Meter Dash, running a time of 28.23 seconds. She finished seventh in the 400 Meter Dash at 1:03.06.

Rauch scored two points with a fifth-place time in the 5000 Meter Run, finishing in 23:53.39. She also competed in the 3000 Meter Run.
