AKRON, Ohio - Sierra Szuhay highlighted the Wilmington College women's swimming team's performance on the first full day of the 2022 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Swimming & Diving Championships hosted at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium on Thursday.
The sophomore from Jefferson, Ohio, swum a time of 2:24.69 in the 200-yard IM, more than five seconds faster than her seeded time, in the morning preliminaries to earn a spot in the consolation final. In said final, Szuhay tapped the wall in 2:26.10 to finish in sixth place.
Two relays took place on Thursday and Wilmington finished fifth in both. The 200-yard freestyle team of Ashley Carlson, Anna Endsley Szuhay and Audrey Bibb knocked off over 13 seconds from their seeded time by swimming the race in 1:46.60. In the 400-yard medley relay, Szuhay and Bibb teamed up with Symone Daniels and Maryn Herring to swim a mark of 4:27.09, over 10 seconds quicker than the seeded time.
The second full day of action begins with morning preliminaries at 10 a.m. on Friday.
