Women's Swimming Splits Double Dual at Transylvania

RESULTS

LEXINGTON, Kentucky - The Wilmington College women's swimming team split a double dual on Saturday, defeating Wittenberg University 127-111 and falling to host Transylvania University 191-79 at the Beck Center.

The Fightin' Quakers had eight top-three individual finishes. Three came from Sierra Szuhay, who took second in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.64) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:23.54) to go along with a third-place swim of 2:33.58 in the 200-yard IM. Emma Thompson also finished runner-up in two events with swims of 5:59.61 in the 500-yard freestyle and 12:11.90 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. McKenzie Danhoff's third-place swim of 1:20.96 in the 100-yard breaststroke rounded out those individual finishes.

Wilmington's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Audrey Bibb, Ashley Carlson, Danhoff and Anna Endsley swum a time of 1:53.69 and took third place.

"Both teams started faster today and created an environment where they could carry some momentum through the meet," Head Coach Trip Breen said. "Both teams have been training well, confidence should come from training, not racing. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to race the next three weekends. As a group, we still have a lot to learn."

Wilmington returns to the water for a dual meet against Hiram College at home on Nov. 6.
