BEXLEY, Ohio - Capital University's Maggie Peddicord scored the game's only goal 1:52 into double overtime to defeat the Wilmington College women's soccer team 1-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action on Wednesday evening.
The victory vaults the Crusaders to 12-4-0 overall and 6-2-0 in OAC play while the loss dips the Fightin' Quakers to 8-8-0 overall and 2-6-0 in conference competition.
Both teams took 12 shots on goal with Kelly Bachmann making a dozen saves for Capital while Leda Moyer saved 11 shots for Wilmington. Overall, the Crusaders held a 21-19 edge in shots despite the visitors holding a 4-2 edge in shots after regulation. Despite the 19 shots, the Quakers' offense was held without a goal for the sixth consecutive game.
Tiffany Hayes led Wilmington individually with five shots including four on goal while Alex Vestal took three shots. Peddicord, the goal-scorer, fired seven shots with three being on net.
Wilmington concludes its 2018 regular season by hosting John Carroll University on Saturday. Kickoff from Williams Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
