Men's Cross Country Has Eyes Set on DIII Pre-Nationals

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's cross country team heads to one of the biggest races in the country, the Louisville Cross Country Classic, on Satuirday. Over 10 races will occur throughout the day, with the Quakers racing in the Division III Pre-Nationals race as well as the open race. 

The Race: The men's college blue race takes place at 10:45 a.m., with the Pre-National race shooting off at noon.  

The Teams: Wilmington will be joined by teams from a multitude of states and cities across Division III.

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 26th season as head cross country coach at Wilmington College. A 1993 graduate of Wilmington, Combs was a member of the only cross country team to win a conference title in school history. Also the head track & field coach at the College, Combs led the Fightin' Quakers to two top-10 finishes nationally with a sixth place finish at the 2002 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships and a seventh place mark at the 2004 Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Squad: The Quakers will be heading into the race with a squad that has competed with regionally ranked teams in Division III.  Led by Simon Heys, Noah Tobin and Cohen Frost, the team looks to shake up the rankings.

Up Next: Wilmington will have another week off before they host the Jenna Strong home meet on October 15th, which will be a preview race for the home course of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) conference race.
