Simon Heys Shatters School Record with Victory at DIII Pre-Nats

RESULTS

Story by David Wahl III

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky - The Wilmington College men's cross country team entered Kentucky with one thing on their minds, run fast. The 20th annual Live in Lou Classic did not disappoint as the Fightin' Quakers saw 42 teams in the Division III Pre-National Race alone. MIT came away with the victory as a team while Wilmington finished 17th, defeating multiple teams ranked ahead of them in the latest regional rankings.

Once again, the school record holder, Simon Heys, ran with his feet on fire. Not only did he place first overall in the race, he shattered his previous school record in the eight-kilometer by 52 seconds with a time of 24:11.4. The rest of the Quaker squad packed up and finished within places of each other. Sophomore Noah Tobin and George Rickett led the pack.

Wilmington has another week off as it prepares to host the JennaStrong Fall Classic in Wilmington on October 15th.
