Men's Cross Country Takes to the Course Beginning Sept. 1

WILMINGTON, Ohio - After not being able to compete during the 2020-21 academic year (due to the COVID-19 pandemic), the Wilmington College men's cross country team will return to the course in September and culminate the regular season by hosting the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championships in late October.

The Fightin' Quakers return 17 student-athletes who were members of the program a year ago along with welcoming five freshmen for the upcoming season.

Wilmington will travel to Delaware, Ohio, for the Ohio Wesleyan University Invitational on Sept. 1 before making the trek West to Shelbyville, Indiana, for the Grizzly Invitational hosted by Franklin College. The Quakers will then head up US Route 68 to Springfield, Ohio, for the Wittenberg Invitational on Sept 11 and will close out the month with the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships at Cedarville University. A trip down South to Louisville, Kentucky, for the University of Louisville's Cross Country Class begins a big month of October. Two important home meets follow with the JennaStrong Fall Classic, named in honor of Jenna Parlette, on Oct. 15 and the OAC Championships on Oct. 30.

The Quakers will then have a week off the rest and train for the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional meet, located in Shelbyville. Should the team or any individual qualify, the NCAA Division III National Championships would mean a return trip to Louisville on Nov. 20.

WC will be looking to improve upon a sixth-place finish at the 2019 OAC Championships.
