Burnam, Truss post wins at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD – The Wilmington College men's track team recorded two event victories as the Fightin' Quakers finished tied for fourth in the six-team Amy Adams Invitational hosted by Muskingum Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Sophomore Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) won the 400 hurdles (51.88), and scored in three other events. He was second in the triple jump (12.44) and fifth in the 110 hurdles (16.57). Burnam teamed with sophomore Eric Flynn, Jr. (Cleveland, OH/Central Catholic), sophomore Travis Scheadler (Goshen, OH/Goshen) and freshman Elliot Phillimore (Old Fort, OH/Old Fort) to finish second in the 4x400 relay (3:33.65).
  • The 4x100 team of Scheadler, Flynn, junior Chase Manica (Shelbyville, KY/Shelby County) and freshman Gino Hinton (Maple Heights, OH/Maple Heights) placed fourth (45.54).
  • Scheadler also scored in two individual events, playing fifth in the 400 (53.79) and seventh in the 200 (24.12). Hinton also placed seventh in the 100 (12.17).
  • Senior Antone Truss (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs) brought home the other event win, claiming in the high jump (1.04 m). He was also eighth in the javelin (34.58).
  • Two other throwers scored in the javelin as sophomore Alex Tillapaugh (Wilmington, OH/Wickenberg (AZ)) was sixth (35.88) and sophomore Kalvin Butts (St. John's, MI/St. John's) was seventh (34.87). Tillapaugh was third in the high jump (1.69), while Butts was eighth in the hammer (41.66).
  • Senior Linden Ayoki (Cincinnati, OH/LaSalle) was seventh in the discus (40.57) and seventh in the hammer (43.02), while freshman Ethan Hurtt (Frankfort, OH/Adena) was eighth in the discus (38.61).
  • Three Wilmington runners scored in the 2000 steeplechase. Senior Dominic King (Bettsville, OH/Bettsville) was second (6:49.28), sophomore Tony Wydra (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) was third (7:29.61) and freshman Matthew Baker (Liberty Center, OH/Liberty Center) was fourth (7:45.25).
