Men's Soccer Travels to Baldwin Wallace Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's soccer team looks to win its second consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) victory when the Fightin' Quakers travel to Baldwin Wallace University (BW) for a 7 p.m. contest with the Yellow Jackets.

The Teams: Wilmington and Baldwin Wallace. The Quakers are 8-6-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the OAC after defeating defending OAC champions Otterbein University 1-0 on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets are an even 7-7-1 overall and 2-3-1 in conference after falling 3-2 in overtime at John Carroll University on Wednesday evening.

The Coaches: Alex Van der Sluijs is in his first year leading Wilmington's men's soccer team. The 2007 alumnus, who was a three-time First Team All-OAC selection and a member of the program's only team to win an OAC title in 2004, worked at Defiance College for seven seasons. Reid Ayers is in his 17ths season at BW. He's led the Yellow Jackets to over 160 victories during that stretch.

The Players: Niklas Martensson has scored 14 of Wilmington's 31 goals as a team thus far this season. Daniel Kappelin and Benny Spirk have both scored three goals for Wilmington while Leon Tank and Ludwig Lantz have each scored twice. Seven Quakers have netted a single goal. In net, Felix Maurer has allowed 1.69 goals per game along with three shutouts. Danny Ruple, BW's all-time leader in points, has scored 14 of the Yellow Jackets' 29 goals this season.

Series History: Wilmington is 14-5-3 against Baldwin Wallace in the last two decades. The two teams tied 3-3 in Berea last season. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
