Baseball Hosts Miami Hamilton on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team opens its final week of the 2019 season with a non-conference game against Miami University-Hamilton on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Miami-Hamilton. The Fightin' Quakers are 7-27 overall after falling at Heidelberg University 9-4 in consecutive games on Saturday. The Harriers are 21-23 on the season and host Indiana Wesleyan University on Tuesday.

The Coaches: The 2019 season marks the new era for Wilmington College baseball team as the head coach Tony Vittorio starts his first season in charge of the program. He most recently served as the head coach at the University of Dayton for 18 seasons. Darrel Grissom is in his 20th season as Miami-Hamilton and has accumulated 628 victories during that time.

The Hitters: Gage Bley leads Wilmington in several offensive categories including: batting average (.397), hits (56), runs scored (30), doubles (17), triples (2) and RBIs (32). Nick Silvis also carries a .331 batting average including 18 RBIs while Luke Kleindl leads the Quakers in home runs with three and has also driven in 20 runs. Antonio Miller has stolen 29 bases compared to being caught just five times. Statistics for Miami-Hamilton were not available.

The Pitchers: Jared Ferenchak, who earned a complete-game victory in 10 innings against Mount Union a week ago, leads Wilmington in innings pitched (60.2) as well as carrying a 4.45 ERA. Matt Oney, who has pitched in relief for the better part of the year, has a 4.98 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched. Additionally, Lance Fleischman has a team-best 37 strikeouts. Statistics for Miami-Hamilton were not available.
