SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Wittenberg University scored runs in six consecutive innings in a 16-8 victory over the Wilmington College baseball team in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

The Tigers (8-6) opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the bottom of the second and took a 3-0 lead on an RBI-double from Mason Davis in the third. Luke Kleindl answered for the Fightin' Quakers with a two-run home run in the top of the fourth, but Wittenberg's offense couldn't be contained as the hosts plated three runs in the bottom of the inning to bolster a 6-2 advantage.

Wittenberg would add one run in the fifth, four in the sixth and five in the seventh to blow the game open. Wilmington mounted a rally in the ninth as the Quakers sent 10 men to the plate and scored six runs, but a groundout ended the contest.

Cameron Harbert took the loss in a bullpen day for Wilmington, allowing six earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched. Matt Oney, Adam Doerger and Ben Tomlin were all effective in relief for Wilmington.

Jace Barga got his first win of the season for Wittenberg allowing two earned runs on three hits in 6.1 innings pitched.

The Quakers finished with five hits as a team including the home run from Kleindl as the lone extra base hit. Nick Silvis logged a 2-for-5 performance with an RBI and a run scored.

Wittenberg finished with 16 hits including three from both Hayden Knox and Mason Davis. Tanner Boros drove in five runs despite notching just a single hit.

Wilmington (6-13) heads to Northeast Ohio this weekend for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) doubleheader at John Carroll University on Saturday followed by a non-conference, two-game series with Oberlin College on Sunday.
