In game one, Wilmington, which has trailed for the majority of its season thus far, didn't waste any time getting the bats going as Antonio Miller doubled to left field in the first at bat of the game, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored the first run on a sacrifice fly from Nick Silvis. Back-to-back doubles from Gage Bley and Luke Kleindl that followed put the Quakers up 2-0.

 

Three straight groundouts from Franklin induced by starter Lance Fleischman setup Wilmington to double its lead in the bottom of the second on RBI-singles from both Miller and Silvis. Franklin trailing 4-0, rallied with a run in the third, fourth and fifth innings to get within 4-3 after five complete. Then it was Wilmington's turn to plate a couple of runs as Miller scored on a wild pitch in the seventh and an RBI-groundout from Aaron Burns in the eighth.

 

The Quakers, leading 6-3, couldn't get out of the eighth inning as Franklin put together four hits including a go-ahead, three-run home run that put the Grizzles ahead. Trailing 9-6 entering the ninth inning, Bottorff and Jake Hyatt both hit RBI-singles to get within a run, but a strikeout ended the game.

 

Ethan Adams earned the win for Franklin while Nate Stonebraker earned his second save in as many days despite surrendering two earned runs on two hits with two walks. Adam Doerger took the loss for Wilmington allowing three earned runs in one-third of an inning pitched.

 

Kleindl finished 4-for-5 for Wilmington while Miller added a 3-for-4 performance with four runs scored. Ryan Bixler, the home run hitter, finished 3-for-5 with five RBIs for Franklin.

 

In game two, Kleindl continues his torrid hitting day with a two-RBI single in the first inning, but Franklin had struck for four runs on five hits in the first inning, chasing Quaker starter Michael Weisenberger after one inning. The Grizzlies added another run in the second to lead 5-2 after two complete.

 

Wilmington, determined to get a doubleheader split, answered immediately with a seven-hit inning that scored eight runs to lead 10-5 after three innings. The Quakers would not surrender that lead as the visitors scored in each of the next four innings to earn the win.

 

Jared Ferenchak improved to 1-1 on the season allowing four earned runs in six innings pitched in relief. Nick Elmendorf allowed nine earned runs in 2.2 innings pitched in the loss for Franklin.

 

Wilmington tallied 19 hits as a team including a four of them from Mason Walker, who hit a two-run home run in the game. Bottorff and Hyatt finished 3-for-6 while Silvis, Bley and Kleindl all tallied multi-hit games. Additionally, Miller stole seven bases in the two games.
