Baseball To Host Baldwin Wallace on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play on Saturday as Baldwin Wallace University comes to Tewksbury-Delaney Field for a two-games series beginning at 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Baldwin Wallace (BW). The Fightin' Quakers are 6-15 overall and 2-2 on conference play after falling to John Carroll University in two games on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets are 12-8 overall and also 2-2 in OAC competition. BW most recently fell to Case Western Reserve University 7-2 on Wednesday.

The Coaches: The 2019 season marks the new era for Wilmington College baseball team as the head coach Tony Vittorio starts his first season in charge of the program. He most recently served as the head coach at the University of Dayton for 18 seasons. Brian Harrison has been BW's head baseball coach for eight seasons. He has led the Yellow Jackets to two consecutive NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.

The Hitters: A quartet of Quakers – Gage Bley, Luke Kleindl, Jake Hyatt and Nick Silvis – have driven in at least a dozen runs with Kleindl leading the bunch at 18 to go along with his three home runs. Gage Bley has a team-best 10 doubles and two triples while Antonio Miller, who carries a .292 batting average, has swiped 18 stolen bases this season. Philip Wells has driven in 23 runs for BW and, along with Kyle Pennington, has drawn over a dozen walks. Pennington leads the Yellow Jackets in stolen bases with 10.

The Pitchers: Matt Oney has been Wilmington's most effective pitcher as the junior has a 4.73 ERA in 13.1 innings pitched. Lance Fleischman, once named the OAC Pitcher of the Week, pitched a complete-game including eight strikeouts in the Quakers' 3-2 win over Muskingum on two weekends ago. Additionally, Jared Ferenchak carries a 4.66 ERA in 29 innings pitched. BW's pitching staff combines for a 3.17 ERA including Danny Cody who leads the team in wins (three), innings pitched (34.1) and strikeouts (52).
