Wrestling Defeated at Ohio Wesleyan Friday Night in Dual Action

(DELAWARE, Ohio) – The Wilmington College wrestling team hit the mats for their first dual since beating Muskingum University in Hermann Court on November 14th. They traveled to Ohio Wesleyan University and lost 42-9.

The Quakers won two matches, with wins coming from freshmen Michael Louison and Rylan Hurst. Louison won by injury default against Jimmy Baumann at 141, while Hurst defeated Gabe Bulugaris in a hard fought 7-4 decision in the 149-pound weight class. This is the first dual victory in Hurst's Quaker career.

Sophomore Alexander Ruth wrestled a pair of times at 157 pounds, with one in the main dual and one exhibition. He was pinned in his first match and beaten by major decision in his exhibition bout.

Junior Garrett Simmons also wrestled twice at 165. He was pinned in both his bouts. Senior Aaron Pardo was pinned in his match at 174, while freshmen Cooper Rack dropped his 165-pound exhibition match by decision. Sophomore Tim Lewellen was pinned in his heavyweight match.

The Quakers will have some time away from the mats, as they are next in action at the Fairmont State Invitational on January 6th in Fairmont, West Virginia.
