Tackett Leads Quakers with Second Place Finish at Storm Open on Sunday

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – The Wilmington College wrestling team competed at the Storm Open this morning, hosted by Lake Erie College. The Quakers had six wrestlers in action.

Wilmington was led by junior Caleb Tackett, who finished second in the 197-pound weight class, becoming the first Quaker to place this season in a tournament. He started off with a bye to the quarterfinals, where he pinned Waynesburg University's Ayden Bishoff in 4:26 to move to the semi-finals. In the semis, he rolled over his opponent to the tune of a 17-0 technical fall to move to the finals. He faced Merychurst University's Jackson Zimmerman in the championship bout, who was unattached in the tournament. He lost to Zimmerman via major decision 11-2 to end his solid day on the mats.

Michael Louison competed for Wilmington at 141 pounds. He had a bye in his first round, before being pinned in his first match of the day. He followed this up with a 19-2 technical fall victory over Seton Hill University's Nathan Levie to move on in the consolation bracket. There he ran into Buffalo's Aaron Lanster and lost by major decision (16-3) to end his afternoon.

Alexander Ruth competed at 157 pounds for Wilmington and went 0-2. A pair of Quakers in Aaron Pardo and Garrett Simmons wrestled in the 165-pound bracket, both finishing 0-2. Tim Lewellen competed at heavyweight for Wilmington and was 0-2.

The Quakers travel to Delaware, Ohio for a return to dual action Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. against the Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops.
