Simon Heys Named OAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Wilmington College men's track & field sophomore Simon Heys has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Heys, who broke his own school record by over 20 seconds, won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:26.72 at the OAC Elite Meet on Sunday. That time currently sits the Wilmington High School alumnus fifth in all of NCAA Division III.

"Simon [Heys] had an incredible race on Sunday as his indoor season has been really strong building on the success he had last year," Head Men's Track & Field Coach Ron Combs said. "Simon deserves every accolade he gets as he's extremely dedicated and takes every detail into account when it comes to training and racing. I'm really excited to see where he can take this."

The Fightin' Quakers head to Capital University this weekend.
