MARIETTA, Ohio - For the second consecutive week, the Wilmington College men's track & field team hit the road and returned to campus with a meet victory. On Sunday, the Fightin' Quakers scored 165 points as a team, defeating Muskingum University (128 points) and Marietta College (70 points).

Simon Heys took home two events, winning the 1,000-meter run (2:39.50) and the mile run (4:31.72), beating teammates in both races. Evan Whitaker, who finished second to Heys in the 1,000-meter run, crossed the finish line in 9:12.33 to win the 3,000-meter run. Rounding out the Quakers' distance performances was Ryan Honkomp's win in the 5,000-meter run (16:29.34).

In field events, Anthony Gilmore edged out teammate Max Queen to win the high jump with a leap that cleared 6' 1 1/4". Chas O'Connell took home the pole vault with a mark of 10' 11 3/4". For throws, Blake Jamison won the shot put with a hurl of 44' 8 3'4" while teammate Joe Shuga took third. In the weight throw, Shuga's heave of 49' 11 3/4" finished second to teammate Nate Marcum's mark of 50' 7 1/2".

"I thought both teams could win the meet, and I'm happy to get the win on the men's side," Head Coach Ron Combs said. "Both teams did a good job today, and each week we get a little better. It was great to see some new people score some points for our team today and a few of them won events."

Wilmington will head to Columbus next weekend with sprints and jumps at Capital University and distance and throwing events at Otterbein University.
