Men's Track & Field Travels to Capital for their Second Meet of the Season

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's track and field team, currently ranked number 9 in the latest DIII rankings, will continue its 2021 season with an indoor meet at Capital University on Sunday.

The Schedule: Field Events are set to begin at 11 a.m.  Track Events will follow at 1 p.m.  

The Teams: Wilmington will be joined by host Capital alongside Muskingum University and Heidelberg University.

The Coach: Ron Combs continues his 23rd season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.

Who to Watch: Wilmington will be traveling with a nearly full squad this weekend.  Simon Heys, post school record run last week, will be competing in the 1000-meter run and the mile, Joe Shuga, who led the team in the weight throw last week, in the shot put and weight throw, Anthony Gilmore in the high jump and Evan Whitaker in the 5000-meter run.  

National Ranking: The Quakers check in at No. 9 nationally in indoor rankings heading into the meet.
