Bolen Makes Championship Final for Men's Swimming on First Full Day of OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio - Cameron Bolen highlighted the Wilmington College men's swimming team on the first full day of the 2022 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Swimming and Diving Championships held at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium on Thursday.

In the morning prelims, Bolen swum a time of 21.64 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, beating out Jeff Labianco of the University of Mount Union by less than a tenth of a second for the final spot in the evening's championship race. In said race, Bolen touched the wall in 21.67 seconds to take eighth place.

Three other Fightin' Quakers placed in consolation finals in the evening session including Austin Reed, who placed third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:55.43. In the 200-yard IM, Wilmington was represented by both Michael Phillippe and Dane Klosterman with Phillippe placing third (2:02.23) and Klosterman taking fifth (2:05.93).

Two Wilmington relay teams turned in fifth-place finishes as Phillippe, Bolen and Reed teamed up with Aaron Polk to swim a time of 3:41.09 in the 400-yard medley relay. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Bolen, Polk, Klosterman and Reed turned in a time of 1:28.02.

The second full day of action begins with morning preliminaries at 10 a.m. on Friday.
