Men's Swimming Runner-Up at Corbiere-Merion Invitational

RESULTS

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's swimming team finished runner-up at the Corbiere-Marion Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday and Sunday.

"The invitational this weekend was a great experience, specifically for our underclassmen who have not had an experience like this in the last couple of years due to the COVID-19 pandemic," Head Men's Swimming Coach Trip Breen said. "Both teams had numerous lifetime best performances. It was a lot of fun."

The Fightin' Quakers finished with 672 points, clearing third-place Hiram College, who Wilmington beat in a dual meet earlier this season, by over 100 points. Host Ohio Wesleyan won the invitational with 936 points.

Sunday began with the 400-yard medley relay, and the Quaker team of Jacob Worley, Cameron Bolen, Aaron Polk and Michael Phillippe swum a time of 3:42.18 to finish second in the event. Worley, Phillippe and Bolen also competed in another relay - the 200-yard freestyle relay. This time, Dane Klosterman teamed up the WC trio to touch the wall in 1:32.46 and earn a second-place finish.

Bolen took home an individual event win in the 50-yard freestyle, claiming victory by three hundredths of a second with a time of 21.99 seconds.

"We had great competition and a lot of close races, but finishing races is still something we need to work on as a team," said Breen. "It will be an area we focus on over winter break."

Wilmington will now have time to train for its annual trip to Florida before picking up the second portion of its season against the University of Mount Union on Jan. 22, 2022.
