WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's soccer team looks to conclude non-conference play undefeated Saturday vs. Geneva College. Kickoff from Williams Stadium is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Geneva. Wilmington is 6-0-1 and leading Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with 26 goals in seven game and is coming off a commanding 3-0 home win at Williams Stadium against Franklin College Wednesday night. Geneva College is 2-3-2 after a 1-0 victory over OAC foe, Baldwin Wallace University, in Berea Wednesday. 

The Coaches: Alex Van der Sluijs is in his fourth year leading Wilmington's men's soccer team. The 2007 alumnus, who was a three-time First Team All-OAC selection and a member of the program's only team to win an OAC title in 2004, got the program within a shootout victory of playing for an OAC Tournament title in the spring of 2021. He worked at Defiance College for seven seasons. Gary Dunda is in his 12th season coaching at Geneva where he owns a 127-59-28 record including a 37-8-3 record in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play in the last five seasons, the best in the conference.

The Players: The Quakers boast a high-octane offense with Elorm Dogbey leading the way with a conference best five goals in just four games. Yusef Muqtadir leads the Quakers along with Dogbey with 10 points having provided four goals and two assists. Michael Owusu is a key facilitator leading the team with three assists on the season. Ian Gelsinger and Carnel Kerr lead the way for the Golden Tornadoes with two goals each while Antonio Fiordilino has provided the most assists with three on the season. 

Regional Rankings: Wilmington sits third in the United Soccer Coaches' most recent regional rankings. Additionally, the Quakers are receiving votes to be ranked in the national Top 25 Poll.

Series History: Wilmington was victorious against Geneva in its lone meeting at Williams Stadium in 2008 with a final score of 2-1. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
