Spring Senior Salute - Baseball's Lance Fleischman

WILMINGTON, Ohio - Throughout the coming months, the Wilmington College athletics department will be highlighting senior student-athletes who had their senior seasons cut short due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Today's senior salute is Lance Fleischman. A four-year member of the baseball program, Fleischman has appeared in 48 career games with 20 starts. He's logged over 140 innings wearing the Green & White and leaves the program with four wins, one save, one complete game and 79 strikeouts.

What is your major? - Exercise Science with a concentration in Sport Performance and a minor in Coaching.

What is your favorite class at Wilmington College? - Strength and Fitness Programming

What is your favorite memory with the baseball program? - Sweeping Muskingum University in the opening Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) series my junior year.

What are your plans after graduation? - My plan is to become a strength and conditioning coach at the high school or college level.

Do you see yourself returning to Wilmington to compete in 2021? - I do not see myself coming back to compete due to graduation.

What is your message to underclassmen on the impact of COVID-19? - Never take the time you have with your teammates and played the sport you love for granted. It can always be taken away from you at any moment. Unexpected things can happen, so practice and compete as hard as you can. Things can and will get difficult at times, but you always have to fight through it. Keep going.
