Spring Senior Salute - Baseball's Nick Silvis

Spring Senior Salute - Baseball's Nick Silvis

WILMINGTON, Ohio - Throughout the coming months, the Wilmington College athletics department will be highlighting senior student-athletes who had their senior seasons cut short due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Today's senior salute is Nick Silvis. A four-year member of the program, Silvis carried a .295 batting average with 132 hits in his time wearing the Green & White. He hit over a .300 clip both as a sophomore and a junior and drove in 45 runs to go along with 45 walks in his four years. After the 2019 season, Silvis garnered Honorable Mention All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) honors. Additionally, he's been named Academic All-OAC the maximum three times in his career.

What is your major? - Sport Management with minors in Business and Coaching

What is your favorite class at Wilmington College? - Marketing Management with Sue Lucas

What is your favorite memory with the baseball program? - The 2018 spring break trip that included a walk-off win over St. Michael's College and a 29-run performance against Lakeland University.

What are your plans after graduation? - I will get a job in the sports profession - hopefully sales or marketing.

Do you see yourself returning to Wilmington to compete in 2021? - I do not see myself coming back to compete due to graduation.

What is your message to underclassmen on the impact of COVID-19? - Play ever game like it's your last game.  I didn't know that when I laced up my cleats vs. Alma College that would be the last time I would do that in my baseball career. Cherish every moment you spend with your team because you never know if it will be your last.
