Women's Soccer Unveils 2021 Fall Schedule

WILMINGTON, Ohio - After navigating through a unique 2021 spring season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wilmington College women's soccer team is anxious to return to the pitch for a normally-time season this fall. The Fightin' Quakers, under the direction of 30-year Head Coach Steve Spirk, return nearly every player from a season ago, a campaign in which Wilmington won an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament game for the time in a decade.

The season-opener will feature North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) member Ohio Wesleyan University, a team which Wilmington has a history with in the NCAA Division III Tournament, at Williams Stadium on Sept. 1. The Quakers will then travel to Mount St. Joseph University for a game with the host Lions and Transylvania University on Sept. 4-5 before returning home for contests against Wittenberg University and Anderson University on Sept. 8 and 11 respectively. Consecutive road contests against Earlham College in the Quaker Bowl Rivalry (Sept. 15) and the College of Wooster (Sept. 18) follow, and Wilmington rounds out the month of September and non-conference play at home against Franklin College (Sept. 25) and Kenyon College (Sept. 28).

The OAC schedule is similar to previous years in order as Heidelberg University (Oct. 2), Muskingum University (Oct. 6), the University of Mount Union (Oct. 9) and Ohio Northern University (Oct. 13) open the slate with road contests at Marietta College and Otterbein University on Oct. 16 and Oct. 20 respectively following. The regular season closes out with home contests against Baldwin Wallace University on Oct. 23 and John Carroll University on Oct. 30 with a road game at Capital University sandwiched in between on Oct. 27.

Should Wilmington qualify for the OAC Tournament like it did in the spring of 2021, that postseason event would begin in early November. The Quakers will be looking to build on a unique 2021 spring season which featured a 5-4-2 overall record and a berth in the OAC Tournament semifinals.
