Leon Breaks Own 200-Yard IM Record, Named All-OAC for Women's Swimming at OAC Championships

RESULTS AFTER DAY ONE

GENEVA, Ohio – Macki Leon broke her own school record and earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) honors in the 200-yard IM to highlight the Wilmington College women's swimming team's performance on the first day of the 2021 OAC Swimming & Diving Championships held at the Spire Institute on Thursday.

Leon touched the wall in 2:12.15 of the 200-yard IM to break her mark in the event at last year's OAC Championships by over two seconds. Lily Lentine also competed in the event and took seventh in the consolation final (2:30.15).

The 200-yard IM wasn't the only event Wilmington would have a pair of individuals finish in on Thursday. Margaret Hover and Emma Thompson both competed in the consolation final of the 500-yard freestyle. The senior finished fourth with a time of 5:34.87 while the freshman placed sixth by touching the wall in 5:36.48. Senior Hannah Davis placed fourth in the consolation final of the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.79 seconds.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Quaker team of Hover, Davis, Leon and Ashley Carlson placed fourth with a time of 1:43.03.

As a team, Wilmington sits in fifth place with 62 points. Host John Carroll University leads the way with 301 points. Mount Union (156 points), Ohio Northern University (148 points) and Baldwin Wallace University (98 points) round out the standings.

Day two of competition gets underway with preliminaries at 10 a.m. on Friday.
