Men's Swimming Fifth After Day One of 2021 OAC Championships

RESULTS AFTER DAY ONE

GENEVA, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's swimming team opened competition on the first day of the 2021 Ohio Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships held at the Spire Institute on Thursday.

Cameron Bolen highlighted the Fightin' Quakers' individual performances on the day, winning the consolation final of the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.69 seconds and dropping nearly a second from his lifetime best performance in the event in the process. Three other individuals – Michael Phillippe (2:04.13), Ian Darras (2:12.10) and Noah Arend (2:19.58) took fourth, sixth and eighth respectively in the consolation final of the 200-yard IM.

Phillippe and Bolen teamed up with Aaron Polk and Logan Schroer to touch the wall in 3:40.42 and in fourth place of the 400-yard medley relay. Bolen, Polk and Schroer, alongside Dane Klosterman, also swam the 200-yard freestyle relay, taking fifth with a time of 1:29.70.

As a team, Wilmington sits in fifth place with 76 points. Host John Carroll University leads the way with 258 points. Mount Union (204 points), Ohio Northern University (160 points) and Baldwin Wallace University (95 points) round out the standings.

Day two of competition gets underway with preliminaries at 10 a.m. on Friday.
