UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's swimming team won five events in a 164.5-99.5 loss to John Carroll University in an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) dual meet on Saturday. The meet was the Fightin' Quakers' final tuneup before host the 2019 OAC Swimming and Diving Championships on Feb. 14-16.

"Both teams continue to swim well as we finish the bulk of our seasonal training," Head Men's Swimming Coach Trip Breen said. "I am pleased with the progress we've made and look forward to continuing to work hard as the conference championships approach."

Isak Alin won two individual events, claiming first-place honors in the 100-yard butterfly (56.42) and the 100-yard IM (57.43). Frederick Rankin tied with John Carroll's Matthew Ramsey to win the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.95. He also finished second in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:00.28. Polk was the other individual to win an event for Wilmington, taking the 500-yard freestyle (5:27.80) while Samuel Shanes finished second in the event (5:41.18).

The Quakers' relay team of Alin, Mac Warncke, Polk and Lawrence Daya won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:35.55. George Rickett, Robbie Mihalko, Mike Austin and Jared Shoemaker finished just over nine seconds behind in second place.

Logan Schroer finished second in three events, the 100-yard freestyle (51.50), 200-yard freestyle (1:52.40) and 100-yard butterfly (58.58).

"It's now time to fine tune some things as we begin resting for the OAC Championships," said Breen.

Those OAC Championships will be held at the University of Akron.
