Alin Earns All-OAC Honors in 200-Yard Breaststroke on Final Day of OAC Championships

RESULTS

AKRON, Ohio – Isak Alin highlighted the Wilmington College men's swimming performance by claiming All-OAC honors in the 200-yard breaststroke on the final day of the 2019 OAC Swimming and Diving Championships held at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium on Saturday.

Alin, who broke a third Jason Keith (1998-99) record in the event with a time of 2:07.83, broke his own school record in the finals with a mark of 2:05.46. Mason Beck of John Carroll University won the OAC title in the event with an NCAA B-Cut time of 2:03.34. Frederick Rankin (2:11.72) and Brody Morris (2:28.31) took first and third respectively in the consolation finals of the 200-yard breaststroke.

Three Fightin' Quakers finished the consolation final of the 200-yard backstroke. Mike Austin (2:06.10), Lawrence Daya (2:07.45) and Samuel Wallace (2:16.48) finished fifth, sixth and eighth respectively.

In the 1,650-yard freestyle, Aaron Polk (17:44.64) and Samuel Shanes (18:46.35) finished fifth and sixth in the consolation final.

Wilmington's 400-yard medley relay team of Logan Schroer, Daya, Aaron Polk and Alin took fifth with a time of 3:20.37.

"We work towards this meet that's a celebration of our season," Head Men's Swimming Coach Trip Breen said. "Both teams embraced that. It was exciting to watch 88 lifetime best swims and seven record-breaking performances."

As a team, Wilmington finished in fifth place with 273 points. John Carroll University won its third consecutive OAC title with 985 points. Ohio Northern University finished second with 744.5 points, the University of Mount Union placed third with 694.5 points and Baldwin Wallace University took fourth with 310 points.
