Men's Swimming Fifth After Day One of Ohio Wesleyan Invitational

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's swimming team stands in fifth place after day one of the Corbiere-Merion Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday.

The Fightin' Quakers accumulated 237 points and sit ahead of both Manchester University and Urbana University. Host Ohio Wesleyan leads the invitational with 552 points.

Individually, Wilmington had five top-eight finishes on Saturday with all of them coming in breaststroke events. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Isak Alin finished second (59.98) and Frederick Ranking, the reigning Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Men's Swimmer of the Week, placing sixth (1:01.62). In the 200-yard breaststroke, Alin took second (2:11.35), Ranking finished fifth (2:19.19) and Samuel Shanes placed eighth (2:28.23).

Two of Wilmington's relay teams – 200-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle – recorded top-eight finishes. Lawrence Daya, Rankin, Alin and Logan Schroer took sixth in the 200-yard medley relay (1:42.22) while the Quaker squad of Mac Warncke, Aaron Polk, Mike Austin and Shanes finished seventh in the 800-yard freestyle (8:25.63).

The final day of the invitational is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Sunday).
