WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's swimming team split a double dual meet on Saturday, defeating Transylvania University 140-100 and falling to Wittenberg University 125-122 at the Wilmington Natatorium.

"Great win over Transylvania and just missed with the Wittenberg meet for us today," Head Men's Swimming Coach Trip Breen said. "We challenged the team prior to the start, and they know how close it was going to be. We had some great swims that helped inspire others as the meet progressed."

The Fightin' Quakers' 200-meter medley relay team of Lawrence Daya, Frederick Rankin, Isak Alin and Logan Schroer beat the field by over two seconds with a time of 1:55.18.

Alin also won the 200-meter breaststroke (2:34.7) and the 200-meter IM (2:19.09) while finishing second in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:09.92). Daya claimed the title in the 100-meter backstroke (1:06.51) while finishing runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke (2:31.56).

Schroer earned two runner-up finishes in the 100-meter freestyle (57.31) and 200-meter freestyle (2:09.85).

"We had a lot of people set up and race very well," said Breen. "We still have a lot of work to do, however, but today was definitely a step in the right direction."

Wilmington returns to the pool next weekend with a home dual meet against Hiram College.
