Five Quakers Earn All-OAC Honors

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Wilmington College football team placed five individuals on the All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) football team as the league unveiled its postseason awards on Monday, Nov. 21. 

Fifth-year senior wide receivers Itika Wynn Jr. and Ace Taylor were named Second Team All-OAC Offense, senior defensive lineman Brandon Lemley earned Second Team All-OAC Defense and two Eaton High School alumni - Jarod Lee and Zac Schmidt - garnered Honorable Mention All-OAC honors.

Wynn Jr., a native of Columbus, led the team in touchdown catches with seven while also hauled in 34 passes for 523 yards. One of the touchdown receptions was the go-ahead score in the final minute of a 34-31 win at Capital University on Sept. 24. The four-time All-OAC selection leaves the program top three in career receptions (196), receiving yards (2,814) and touchdown receptions (27).

Taylor, a native of Cincinnati, led the team in receptions with 44, caught two touchdowns and tallied 432 receiving yards. The three-time All-OAC selection concludes his WC career second all-time in receptions (211) and is one of seven indiividuals to have over 2,000 yards in a career.

Lemley, a native of Columbus, tallied 22 tackles with 1.5 for loss on the season. He also blocked multiple kicks and batted down one pass. Lemley finishes his WC career with 81 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Lee, a sophomore, led the team in tackles with 98 for an average of nearly 10 per game. He had six tackles for loss with one sack, broke up four passes and intercepted three passes including two in the season finale at Ohio Northern University on Nov. 12.

Schmidt, a junior who was once named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, finished second on the team in tackles with 89. He led the squad in tackles for loss with nine, intercepted one pass, broke up three more and recovered a fumble.

Wilmington finished its 2022 season with a 3-7 overall record and a 2-7 mark in OAC contests, marking the fourth consecutive year the Quakers have beaten Capital University and Otterbein University.
