Volleyball Hosts Capital For Senior Night Twinbill

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team will compete at Hermann Court one more time during the 2021 spring season on Tuesday when Capital University comes to town for a pair of matches. First serve for the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) twinbill is scheduled for 6 & 8 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Capital. The Fightin' Quakers are in search of their first victory of the season after a pair of straight-set defeats at Baldwin Wallace University last Friday. The Crusaders are also winless on the 2021 spring campaign, but recently won their first set of the season in a 3-1 defeat at Ohio Northern University on Friday.

The Coaches: A new era of Wilmington volleyball has arrived as Andy Riesenberg, an experienced coach at the NCAA Division I, II, III and club levels, enters his second season leading the program in the spring of 2021. The Mount St. Joseph University alumnus has spent time at Southern Illinois University, Xavier University and Ohio University as an assistant coach as well as a stint as head coach at NCAA Division II institution Lake Erie College. Amanda Hubbard is in her fourth season as Capital's head volleyball coach.

The Players: A quartet of Quakers – Victoria Long, Rachel Kennedy, Sofia Thomas and Sydney Geibel – all average over a kill per set while Thomas and McKenzie Stringer combine to dish out nearly six assists per set. Defensive specialists Karley Schlensker and Blake O'Brien both are just shy of 3.00 digs per set. Delanie Nahikian leads the Crusader offense by averaging over two kills per set while a trio of Crusaders - Emily Cooper, Reagan Willoughby and Jenay Kocsis - dish out roughly three assists per set.

Senior Night: The pair of matches mark the final regular season home matches of the careers of both Karley Schlensker and Adriana Middleton. A brief ceremony for the two of them will be held prior to the doubleheader.

Series History: Since the 2008 season, Wilmington is 1-11 against Capital with the lone victory coming the last time the teams met at Fred Raizk Arena – Oct. 23, 2018. More information can be viewed by visiting the link above.
