Volleyball Travels to Muskingum for Two Matches on Tuesday

SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a pair of matches against Muskingum University on Tuesday evening. First serve from New Concord is slated for 6 p.m. in match one and 8 p.m. in match two.

The Teams: Wilmington and Muskingum. The Fightin' Quakers are looking to bounce back from a pair of straight-set losses at Heidelberg University to open the 2021 spring campaign. The Fighting Muskies, on the other hand, bring a 2-0 record to the twinbill having defeated John Carroll University in two four-set matches last Friday.

The Coaches: A new era of Wilmington volleyball has arrived as Andy Riesenberg, an experienced coach at the NCAA Division I, II, III and club levels, enters his second season leading the program in the spring of 2021. The Mount St. Joseph University alumnus has spent time at Southern Illinois University, Xavier University and Ohio University as an assistant coach as well as a stint as head coach at NCAA Division II institution Lake Erie College. Hallie Cruzen is in her fifth season as Muskingum's volleyball coach. In 2019, the Muskies were ranked as high as No. 11 in the country and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. 

The Players: Victoria Long leads WC in kills per set at an even three while McKenzie Stringer and Sofia Thomas have split the setting duties with each dishing out between 3-4 assists per set. Joy Bebe has a total of five blocks on the season while Karley Schlensker averages four digs per set. A trio of Muskies - Maddie McGee, Brooke Fatheree and Emma Dunham - all put down over 2.5 kills per set while Erin Dickson dishes out seven assists per set.

Series History: Since the 2008 season, Wilmington is winless against Muskingum in a dozen matches. More information can be viewed by visiting the link above.
